CLUB DAY IS SEPTEMBER 9TH
The Rugby World Cup is the pinnacle of the sport, and for Columbia Business School Rugby Football Club, it represents more than just world-class competition. It’s a chance to connect with the global rugby community. Since our founding in 1968, CBS RFC has celebrated the World Cup as a moment that unites students, alumni, and supporters in their shared passion for the game.
For many within our club, the RWC is both inspiration and celebration. It’s a time when we gather to watch matches together, host watch parties, and bring our community closer through the energy of rugby on its biggest stage. The tournament also serves as a reminder of rugby’s values—teamwork, respect, resilience, and sportsmanship—the same principles we carry with us on and off the field at CBS.
The MBA Rugby World Cup takes place each fall on Governor’s Island, bringing teams together for a day of competition and camaraderie with the NYC skyline as the backdrop.
All passengers ride free on Saturdays and Sundays before 11 AM. Round trip tickets after 11 AM are $5. Online reservations are recommended but not required.
The Ferry will run every 30 minutes from 7:00 AM until 4:15 PM and depart from Governor's Island to Battery Maritime Building every 30 minutes, with the last ferry departing at 6:00 PM
Take the 1 train (red line) downtown to South Ferry and walk 5 minutes to the Battery Maritime Building (10 South Street), where the Governor's Island Ferry departs.
Take a cab to the Battery Maritime Building at 10 South Street, New York, NY. From there, you’ll board the Governor’s Island Ferry, which runs regularly and takes just a few minutes to cross. The ferry drops you directly on the island, only a short walk from the rugby pitches.
