CLUB DAY IS SEPTEMBER 9TH
Rugby at Columbia is equal parts competition and community. Practices and matches bring us together on the field, but the social side is just as important. Our calendar runs all year, anchored by long-standing traditions that keep teammates and alumni connected.
Some of the traditions that keep the team connected are the Baylander Kickoff to start the fall, weekly rugby happy hours, and our lighthearted Kangaroo Court in the winter. We also host big social highlights like the Valentine’s Bachelor Auction fundraiser and the Rugby World Cup Drink Up, which bring together players, alumni, and friends for unforgettable nights.
The drink up is rugby’s social half — a post-match gathering where both teams (and fans) celebrate together. Expect songs, camaraderie, and the kind of bonding that defines rugby worldwide. It’s as essential to the culture as the match itself.
Many of our members join for the community more than the sport. Whether you’re playing, socializing, or both, rugby provides one of the few consistent, non-academic and non-bar-only outlets in the MBA experience — and friendships that last long after graduation.
These casual get-togethers bring the CBS rugby community together in true rugby tradition: sharing laughs, building friendships, and creating memories that last long after the final whistle. Whether it’s after a big game, between training sessions, or simply to connect, Rugby Happy Hours are where bonds are strengthened and the spirit of CBS Rugby thrives.
